Consultation and Diagnosis
A thorough exam, testing and imaging to find the source of your pain.
Every new patient visit begins with a consultation. We review your dental and medical history, listen carefully to your concerns, and perform a focused clinical examination of the tooth or area your dentist has asked us to assess.
Reaching an accurate diagnosis
Diagnostic testing and digital radiographs help us identify the source of your symptoms. Tooth pain can be difficult to localize — discomfort may come and go, or seem to move between teeth — so we take the time to test carefully before recommending treatment.
Discussing your options
Once we reach a diagnosis, we explain all of your treatment options so you can make an informed decision about your care. If your tooth is not amenable to endodontic treatment or the chance of success is unfavourable, you are informed at the time of consultation. In many cases, treatment can begin at the same appointment.
After your visit, we send a written report of our findings and recommendations to your referring dentist.
